Thank you for being so kind and sweet, first of all; I’m used to being harassed by people of other opinions, so this is a very nice change! But I have done research on abortion. I’ve done so much research on it in these past few years. And honestly, the conclusion I’ve come to is I just feel like the pro-choice movement is using scientific facts like the fetus being non-sentient, and twisting things like bodily autonomy, as an excuse to kill them.
The fetus being non-sentient is no excuse. If you’re in a coma in a hospital and somebody comes into your room and murders you, it’s still murder. The fact that you’re unaware you’ve been killed makes no difference.
And bodily autonomy is very real and very important; but so is the fact that there is literally nothing else in the world like pregnancy, it’s such a unique process, that using arguments that we would use on other scenarios just doesn’t really make sense. In all of those scenarios, you’re talking bodily autonomy to your own body. In pregnancy, you’re talking about making a decision that will affect not only you but this other innocent being that relies solely on you for life.
No, you don’t have to give a pint of blood to somebody who needs it to live if you don’t want to, but considering it’s highly unlikely to hurt you in any way to do so, it’s a really shitty thing to do saying no. Also, if you do say no, that person can get blood from many, many other people, but a fetus cannot switch to another uterus. You are not the only hope for a person who needs blood or a kidney, but you are the only hope for your own fetus.
I don’t hate people who’ve had abortions, I think they’ve just made a mistake and I think they’re just as much a victim of that mistake as the fetus. Hope this clears things up, beautiful, and thank you for being so mature and sweet even though we have differing opinions. God bless and have a lovely day!
